For international cargo transportation, the loading method affects both container space utilization and cargo stability during handling, inland delivery and ocean freight. In this South American shipment, HDPE slip sheets were combined with dunnage bags to create a more stable loading solution for cargo with large gaps between loads.

Production: HDPE slip sheets for cargo handling

The main product used in this application is the HDPE Slip Sheet. It provides a lightweight base for cargo handling, transfer and container loading preparation. Compared with conventional pallets, slip sheets can reduce the packaging space occupied beneath the cargo and support a more flexible loading layout.

The product reference image also shows two available material options: Kraft Paper Slip Sheets and HDPE Slip Sheets. Customers can select the appropriate material according to cargo weight, handling equipment, transportation conditions and reuse requirements.

Packaging: creating a stable base before loading

Before the cargo entered the container, the slip sheets were positioned beneath the loads to create a consistent support layer. The palletized cargo was then wrapped and secured for handling. This preparation helps operators arrange the cargo more efficiently and makes better use of the available container floor space.

The HDPE slip sheets were prepared before the loading process. The finished cargo was organized before being moved into the container, allowing the loading team to coordinate the position of each unit and the placement of the dunnage bags.

Container loading: filling gaps with dunnage bags

A key challenge in this shipment was the relatively large space between the cargo units. Without additional support, these gaps could allow the loads to move, lean or collide during turning, braking, road vibration and ocean transportation.

Dunnage bags were placed between the cargo and the container sidewalls to fill the open spaces. Once inflated, the bags created flexible side support and a cushioning layer around the loads. They helped reduce unnecessary movement by making the cargo arrangement more compact and by distributing part of the external impact through the air-filled structure.

The loading sequence shows the change from an unfilled condition to an arrangement supported by inflated dunnage bags. In the initial condition, visible gaps remained beside and between the cargo units. After the dunnage bags were positioned and inflated, these spaces were filled and the sides of the cargo received additional support.

The two products serve different but complementary roles. HDPE slip sheets support the bottom of the cargo and assist with handling and loading, while dunnage bags address the open spaces around the cargo and help cushion movement during transportation. Used together, they provide a practical approach to improving load organization, space utilization and transport safety.

Completion: a more stable container loading result

The completed loading condition presents a more compact and organized loading structure. After the cargo was arranged, supported by slip sheets, wrapped and reinforced with dunnage bags, the dunnage bags occupied the side gaps and provided flexible support, while the wrapping and straps helped maintain the overall shape of the cargo units.

Global customers: packaging protection for South American transport

This HDPE slip sheet and dunnage bag application demonstrates how two packaging products can work together in international logistics. Slip sheets help optimize the cargo base and handling process, while dunnage bags help address gaps, movement and impact during transportation.

For long-distance routes to South America and other international markets, careful container loading can support cargo stability from factory dispatch through handling, inland transportation and final delivery. We provide HDPE Slip Sheets, Kraft Paper Slip Sheets and dunnage bags for customers seeking practical cargo handling and transportation protection solutions.
